Fabricating raw material causes it to be transformed into new items. It is therefore part of a manufacturer's work, and machine fabrication makes use of machinery to build, create or develop something new from the initial parts available. Machine fabrication refers only to the process whereby metal is transformed into components for machinery, but there are also other kinds of metal fabricating process, for example, metal stamping and forging.

The procedure for metal is a process meant to add value and usually involves the construction of metal structure and machines from various raw materials. Most of the metal work is based on engineering drawings and awarded as contracts to industries service as fab shops. Fab shops come in different sizes and will employ different numbers of value added processes within the same facility. Larger facilities will employ larger value added services to their client.

Metal is not something that is cut very easily, but it be effectively divided by shearing. This is a common way of slicing metal. There are different types of metal raw materials used during the fabricating process, of which include expanded, formed, plate and sectional. Additional materials include welding materials (rods and wires), hardware and castings.

The machining part of the procedure involves the final assembly of the changed metal structures that are now in various forms and sizes. The business, or fab shop, has equipment that is used for the different assembly procedures. The machines of the business could include magnetic base drills, lathes and mills, as well as many other useful tools and machinery.

Welding is a very good way for metals to be fixed together, and has been used in machine fabrication with metals for many years. It is essential that a company hires exceptional welders for this task, as precision and accuracy will be required. They must also adhere to the instructions on the drawings that were submitted by the engineer. The product will be sand blasted and painted, or primed, and then finally checked for functionality.
