Do you ever feel that what you are looking for has been there the whole time, but it is waiting for the right time until you are ready to receive the message?
That’s what I felt happen to me near the end of last year, when I was seriously contemplating resigning from my day job.
You see, I love my field of work, but the nature of the gig demands irregular working hours and a not so glamorous pay. At first I was grateful that I found a way to make a living doing what I love, but later on I realized I needed to create a new strategy if I wanted to improve my quality of living.
At the time, due to the stress and unsatisfying money I got from the gig, I had a burning desire to quit – but I never gathered up enough courage to do so. I would always return back to the comfort zone and constantly reminding myself, “Not everyone gets to make living from their passion.”
But then turbulence struck. I got stuck in a situation – I was boxed into a corner, and I had to find a way out. I felt like the Universe had me in a checkmate, and if I was going to make a move, it would have to be now.
This happened slightly before I learned about Bob Proctor’s 11 Forgotten Laws program. As I thought about how to strategically resign (without interrupting income), I listened to the chapter in the program titled “The Law of Sacrifice”.
It only took 24 minutes to listen to the entire chapter, but the shift that happened inside of me still stays to this day. I immediately became clear on why I was so unhappy with my day job (even though it was in a field I love), and what I needed to do about it.
Listening to Bob Proctor explain about this Law in a plain and clear manner without complexities made it easy for me to get the courage I needed to make my move.
Reading about the success stories from other people who “used” this Law also made my intention even stronger – if it worked for them, then it should work for me, right?
The most important lesson I took from this chapter was: in order to make room for the new, you have to let go of the old.
That sentence is so simple, yet it resonated with me so profoundly. I knew what I had to do: I had to “let go” of my old day job in order to find another occupation that would grant me more prosperity.
So I made my move: I went up to my employee and said to him that I will be resigning. He was slightly reluctant to let me go, and I almost felt guilty about leaving – but my mind was set: I wanted to quit.
It was a frightening decision, simply because I didn’t really have a “game plan”. I didn’t know what I would do after I quit, other than keeping a positive mind that the Universe will replace this source of income with an even better one – at least, that’s how the Law of Sacrifice is supposed to work …
… and it did. Even more than that.
Only a few days after I resigned (and enjoyed my temporary feeling of relief), I got a call from another acquaintance of mine who just opened up a new office. I came to his place, and I mentioned that I had just resigned from the other office – and next thing I knew he offered me a job at this new place!
Just for the record, the new office had a higher pay, a more luxurious facility, and the best part – it was only a 10 minute drive from home! Thank you, Law of Sacrifice!
Maybe as you’re reading this you think, “Well, that’s easy. Your acquaintance was already familiar with your work, and you already established some credibility in the industry. It could just be perfect timing.”
Yes, I would have said that myself too – if it wasn’t for the fact that I deliberately resigned from my old job to “test” the validity of the Law of Sacrifice!
But it doesn’t stop there – no, Sir! There is another part to this story – and it’s the part that truly changes my life in an amazing way that I almost say it’s a miracle …
