American Made Products Only Sold Here

By Mara Boone

People are slowly coming back to purchasing American made products only. It has taken a very long time and it was a long road but we are slowly starting to see some results from the various campaigns that were waged over the years. There are still some industries that are not showing a positive change but that just goes to show that the fight has not yet finished.

We need to change the stereotype that the cheaper foreign products are better constructed. They are mostly only cheaper because they are made for cheaper rates in those countries. In some cases the companies then take the extra funds and they can use better materials. In other cases they just reap all the profits and throw it into marketing.

By purchasing items made in the USA you are supporting the jobs that are so important back home. Our economy has been suffering for years now and is finally looking like it might be slowly coming back. If this truly is the case than the best thing that any of us can do is to help support this and make it even more so.

Buying homemade products not only helps you to feel like you did something to help, but believe it or not you are supporting the creating of jobs in the US. This is something that the government has been trying to do for years with only moderate success. The people can almost do it by themselves if we would just purchase the right products.

It is possible but never easy. Just ask the automobile industry. They of course have been selling their homemade cars for years and have struggled against foreign competition. Some of the Japanese companies for example have been beating us at our own game for years and they are not letting up. They even moved operations to our country to save money on distribution.

All of these moves started a chain reaction that all lead to a worsening economy back home in the United States. As a result it just caused more people to have less money and want to spend less in return. We needed to find a way to keep money at home or to spark the consumers to start spending and doing so on American made products only.

Our cars are seen to be inferior to theirs. This might not be true in all cases but it does not have to be. All they need is one or two vehicles to hold up longer than an American made one and the public will take it from there. The media presents this as a winning strategy and the Japanese companies take that to heart.

The auto industry was what was needed to make this work and selling American made products only was the way to do it. We started selling more cars and trucks. They came up with new incentives and new deals to bring in more customers. It began to work and in time we were bridging the gap between us and them. The economy was coming back. Consumers were regaining their faith in American goods and they were buying more and more. Even cars were being bought at a record pace.
